José López Bucio
Professor and researcher at the Instituto de Investigaciones Químico-Biológicas of the UMSNH.
José holds a PhD from the Centro de Investigación y Estudios Avanzados (CINVESTAV), where he later joined as a professor. He has been a visiting professor at Rice University in Houston, Texas and works as a full time professor and researcher at the Chemical-Biological Research Institute of the UMSNH. During his doctoral and postdoctoral work, Dr. López Bucio has applied several techniques to optimize the use of nutrients in plants and their application as fertilizers, which led to obtaining plants with greater capacity to use phosphate fertilizers. As part of other research, he has documented that phosphorus acts in the plant as a signal that regulates root architecture. Currently, the group he leads is conducting research aimed at identifying new growth regulators and beneficial microorganisms for use in agriculture.
