Dra. Diana Zabala
Reseracher especialized in ARNi for biocontrol
Diana earned her Ph.D. in Plant Health at the Federal University of Pelotas, Brazil, focusing her primary research on the adaptation of RNAi technology for biological weed control. Her work in crop protection has involved studying mechanisms that cause herbicide resistance in various weeds and monitoring and mapping herbicide resistance in Colombia. Previously, she was involved in potato genetics and breeding, where her research has led to the development of a new diploid potato variety. As a member of the potato genetic improvement group at the National University of Colombia, she contributed to the creation of four new diploid potato cultivars. Diana holds a Master's degree in Agricultural Sciences and an Agronomist Engineer degree from the National University of Colombia, and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the District University Francisco José de Caldas.
