Dr. Enrique Monte
Researcher Microbiology and Genetics, Salamanca University, Spain
Renowned researcher and academic in the field of microbiology. His doctoral thesis at the University of Salamanca was the first in Spain to focus on Biological Control with Trichoderma. He was a postdoctoral Fleming fellow at the International Mycological Institute in Kew, London, and upon returning to Spain, he became an Associate Professor at the University of Salamanca, where he is now a Microbiology professor. In 1998, he founded the biotechnology company NBT (in Seville) to bring the research results and patents of his group to the market. Later, NBT evolved into an R&D company by coordinating the EU project on functional genomics of Trichoderma. He currently researches the mechanisms by which Trichoderma exerts beneficial effects on plants. With over 20 published papers and more than 11,000 citations, Enrique Monte is featured in the Stanford Ranking "World’s Top 2% Scientists" of researchers with the most influence in his field worldwide.
